Brian Morphew – Morphew Construction Review

This wheelchair ramp and patio were installed in December 2021. The contract was for the demolition of an existing small porch and the construction, concrete pour, and railings on a wheelchair ramp and sitting area.
After 4 months the concrete was cracking in over a dozen places, some cracks over 9 feet in length.
The “drainage” for the patio was supposed to be accomplished through a gentle slope away from the home. When this was not accomplished, Brian Morphew came back out to the property a week after completion and drilled a “weep hole” for drainage in the side of the wall. When drilled, it crumbled part of the wall and was “patched” by Brian Morphew that same day. See the photos and video to see the end result of the drainage and the patching.
When it was time to turn the sprinkler system on in the spring, it was found that the sprinkler line had been severed and filled with concrete during construction.
When Brian Morphew was contacted four months after completion and notified of the cracks, defects, damage and crumbling, we were notified by Randy Paulsen, Brian Morphew’s attorney that the project “(H)as only minor cosmetic defects which are easily repaired.”
With regard to the cracks, Randall Paulsen informed us that “I did note a few cracks in the concrete, however, I think if you check with anyone who routinely pours concrete, you will find this is the rule rather than the exception.”
All photos and videos here were taken 4-5 months after construction was finished.
